Born 29th September 1843 at Annan, Dumfriesshire, died 22nd April 1894 in Sheffield. Self-taught artist. Worked in, and had a studio in Sheffield. He is buried in Burngreave Cemetery. A rural landscape and trompe l'oeil artist, he is regarded as one of the best of the 19th century 'Birmingham' school of artists. |
