*** A Team Dirty South Recording ***
This was my first Mike Cooley solo show. I'm not a big fan of acoustic shows, but this one was fantastic. Loved hearing the acoustic versions of Mike's Truckers songs.
The venue was nearly full. I heard it was sold out or nearly sold out. The crowd was actually respectful and kept quiet while Mike played, which was rewarding in itself.
The setlist was great and included new DBT songs, "Made Up English Oceans" and "First Air Of Autumn." He included covers by Charlie Rich and Eddie Hinton.
Mike treated the crowed to jokes about life on the road, the advertising business and unruly fans. You have to love his dry sense of humor.
Had a great time taping with my fellow TDS member Martin Medley from Nashville. Look for his Schoeps/soundboard matrix recording. Our preshow meal included two pizzas from the newly opened Pie Factory around the corner from the venue and a couple of Abita Andy Gators.
enjoy!
