About this work

Description

Charles Schlumberger published mainly on Foraminifera (marine organisms with perforated shells), but also on netsuke; Jules Richard, Director of the Oceanographic Museum at Monaco, published on copepoda and other aquatic crustacea. Through his association with Prince Albert I of Monaco, Richard also took part in early scientific cinematography. The vessel shown here represents the Prince's yacht Princesse Alice, on which Richard did much of his work
