Description

Nelly Custis was the granddaughter of Martha Washington, (wife of the first President of the United States, George Washington). She spent much of her childhood at the home of the Washingtons, Mount Vernon, and in 1799, on the General's last birthday, married George's nephew, Lawrence Lewis there
