About this work

Description

The shop was opposite the St Louis Hotel, St Louis Street, Quebec (The graphic, loc. cit.). At least one of the barbers is black. All the men wear moustaches. On the wall in the background is a notice reading: "Williams, physiognomical haircutter, capillary abridger and cranium manipulator studio, Gen. Montcalm's old head quarters."
